I took a few days reading all the review I can and decided to buy this synology over WD or Seagate. Main reason are:1. Can act as real personal cloud which similar to Dropbox / Google Drive
2. Can link to Google Drive / Dropbox / Baidu cloud
3. So many 3rd party web based app and mobile app
4. Support Apple TV (only one so far)
5. Easily add / remove Drive if needed
6. Best of all -- have its own video Transcoder which support more video format viewing.
First when I received the package, find out the box is lighter and thought. But after open that everything is packed nicely. All the cables, screws, and quick installation guide is packed nicely in the small box.
Mechanically very thoughtful when secureing the hard drive using the screw. Have enough opening for the putting the screw in. Once Ethernet cable and Power adapter is plugged in. Just power up and login to find.synology.com and follow the setup. Everything is automatically done pretty much!
And whatever I want they have the very easy to read knowledge based app.
One thing to notice is that there is two hard drive slot I original plug to Drive 2 since I only got one hard drive. But not sure if it will have any effect though.
Also notice that if you have 1x 4TB installed, you can only install the 2nd drive 4TB or up. Not lower.
Drive performance is great.
