The issue persisted with a set of earphones which also worked with other devices. When I right click on my speaker icon and click sound I am not presented with a tab showing sound or speaker icons. I was able to determine from going onto the playback devices tab that the speakers are already my default and are the only device it recognizes currently in the playback devices tab.
After running the troubleshooter it said hardware changes may not have been detected and listed this as fixed. This did not fix the problem though I did notice that when I am playing a song or video that should result in sound output the speaker under playback devices sometimes acts as if it is putting out sound because the volume bar next to it varies in size as if it was playing sound.

In regards to your method two I would like to point out my headphones are not Bluetooth and I have never needed to connect them with anything via bluetooth. I can find no evidence any drivers were ever installed but im not sure this is the issue as no headphones appear to work.

6) Are you able to use any other Bluetooth device in the computer?
